Dream Big - Rubik Cube Martin Luther King Portrait
Designer Pete Fecteau, spent 40 hours configuring a monumental mosaic of Martin Luther King Jr. made entirely out of Rubik’s Cubes called Dream Big. Each cube was “reversed solved” or twisted so that one of the faces maps it’s nine stickers into the total image, that’s 38,178 stickers in total!
With a computer generated draft as his blueprint, Pete used 4,242 Rubik’s Cubes to construct the 18’ 6” x 9’ 8” piece that, once completed, weighed about half a ton.
I am thankful everyday, and I may not always know the exact words to say or the actions to show how thankful I am each day.
My life isn’t perfect. It never really has been. I struggled as a kid, always being the new kid, or the awkward kid. I didn’t always make the right choices, but at least I made choices.
I wake up everyday, usually next to my amazing boyfriend. But I wake up to sunshine and another day. I am thankful for the sunshine. To shine some light on to my crazy world.
We have known each other for many years, however we haven’t always been friends, but for the past 6 years.. we’ve been best friends.
I left home at the mere age of 19, ready to take on the world. I’ll never forget the hurt in her face the day I told her I wasn’t going to be her roommate at ASU or that I was leaving her to move to Washington DC. I had never even been there before and now I was moving there! To this day, I don’t know how I did it alone. I packed up 3 suit cases and moved. Never looked back.
On this 2nd day of my Thankful-ness, I am thankful for my best friend, Corinne Cormier. We’ve been through ups and downs, and our happiest times, as well as our saddest times. She taught me that distance does not change anything. And I’m sorry I left you to fend school by yourself, but look at where it led us.
We may not talk everyday, but a day doesn’t go by where I don’t think about her, and about our crazy times from before we graduated high school to now. We are both growing and learning in our own ways, and we are equally happy in our lives. She is my life, and when I have a bad day, I know she is only a phone call away.
I love you girl!
Many days and nights, and even more money, has been wasted on alcohol. Not that that is ever a bad thing. I wake up in my own bed, not surrounded by strangers, I have my wallet, and in most cases, I have my phone.
However, I wake up the same usually, my blood sugar’s low, I’m hungry, I’m groggy but mostly I AM THIRSTY. So I drag myself out of bed, make a lot of noise, hoping to not wake my roommate. I walk to my little apartment sized fridge, open it and to my surprise… DIET COKE. Now, what they say about diet coke drinkers is usually quite true, they have to have their Diet Coke!!!! I opened the diet coke before even removing the can from the inside of the fridge. And AHHHHHHH, IT WAS FABULOUS!
